Oakland PD Kills Dog in Family's Back Yard

An Oakland police officer shot and killed the family yellow lab while it was locked in the back yard. But hey, at least the officer left behind a note: OPD responded to your residence to investigate a burglary alarm.

I'm sure this is exactly the "service" the homeowner had in mind. How many more dogs must be killed by these sick, twisted, sadistic, torturous bullies?

NH Cop Tasers MA Cop

An off-duty New Hampshire cop Tasered an off-duty Massachusetts cop and was charged with assault and battery with a deadly weapon.

This man has likely used the same Taser numerous times previously and not charged with the same crime. The same man does the same action with the same device, but not charged when on-duty. How does a costume and a badge absolve all culpability when causing harm to another individual?

Police Shoot Fire Chief Over Ticket Dispute

Jericho, AR Fire Chief, Don Payne went to court to protest a ticket and was met with a bullet from one of the seven police officers, the city's entire force.

Now the police chief has disbanded his force "until things calm down," a judge has voided all outstanding police-issued citations and sheriff's deputies are asking where all the money from the tickets went. With 174 residents, the city can keep seven police officers on its rolls but missed payments on police and fire department vehicles and saw its last business close its doors a few weeks ago.

Quick math: 7 police officers for 174 residents. That's one cop per 25 residents. I bet they feel extra "served".

Police Taser Deaf and Disabled Man

Police pepper sprayed then tasered a deaf and mentally handicapped man after demanding that he leave a store's restroom in Mobile, AL.

"Police spokesman Christopher Levy says police didn't realize [Antonio] Love had a hearing impairment until after he was out of the bathroom. The officers' conduct is under investigation."

First, the gang of violent thieves in police costumes perpetrate unspeakable acts of aggression against this poor man, but don't worry - an "investigation" will be held. The police officers will go before a board of other police officers - I'm sure that justice will be served.

"The newspaper says the officers attempted to book Love on charges including disorderly conduct, but a magistrate on duty wouldn't accept the charges."

These thugs STILL wanted to book Love for disorderly conduct?! This is the catch-all charge that the police use if they feel their authority is being threated. It's the equivalent of a 5-year-old throwing a temper tantrum and calling someone a meany-head.

Cop Murders Teen Then Plants Gun

The handgun found near a teenager shot and killed by a Minneapolis police officer in 2006 could not have been carried by the teen, new court documents allege: It had last been in possession of police before it was found next to the body of Fong Lee.

The court filings in a lawsuit filed by Fong Lee's family against Minneapolis police and the officer who fired the fatal shots, along with a review of police reports, witness statements and other documents, raise the possibility that Fong Lee was unarmed when an officer shot him eight times — and that the pistol that officers said they found near his body was placed there after the shooting.

The gun in question had been recovered earlier after a burglary and turned over to police, who kept it as evidence and had never returned it to its owner.

Moreover, Minneapolis police "may have tried to deliberately alter history by writing new reports indicating the gun recovered near Fong Lee's body was not the same gun" that had been recovered after the burglary, according to Richard Hechter, a lawyer representing Fong Lee's family, wrote in an affidavit filed in U.S. District Court on Monday.

"The evidence supports a claim of planting a gun, especially since irrefutable video evidence and eyewitness accounts establish Fong Lee did not have a gun at the time he was killed."

More Police Brutality

I have previously posted cases here and here and here which detail the trend of police corruption. This video shows another situation where those who we have entrusted to enforce the law have overstepped their boundaries yet again. Two 200-pound men vs 15-year-old girl.

One wonders where badged menaces to society like this could find employment if they weren't harassing the populace under the creed "to protect and serve". Is there a puppy kicking career that I'm unaware of?

One more thing: do you think the Feds will investigate these officers for steroid use?

Monopoly On The Use Of Force

There are many dangers with allowing the state a monopoly on the use of force (even at the local level). If a policeman unjustly harms a civilian or commits an unethical act, the likely scenario is that the story is buried by the department. If somehow it makes it to the light of day, that policeman is placed on “administrative leave” (while usually still drawing a paycheck) while the tax-sponsored police department conducts an investigation. The taxpayers pay for the investigation in addition to the attorney fees for the policeman that perpetrated the act (I hesitate to call it a crime because crimes are only committed by the private sector, no?) If somehow the criminal policeman is found culpable, the court will award damages to the victim, and guess who picks up that tab as well? The taxpayers, of course.

But if there were private companies competing for the "business" of the use of force, the situation plays out a lot different and allows for the "rascals to be thrown out" at their own expense. See: Blackwater.
